Freedom is precious

I am not a prophet but I do study history.  Unfortunately something I wrote back in 2008 is coming to fruition.  On September 16th, 2008 I wrote this.  And then today I see this.

 In light of that consider:

The people go from bondage to spiritual faith;
from spiritual faith to great courage;
from great courage to liberty;
from liberty to abundance;
from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to complacency;
from complacency to apathy;
from apathy to dependence;
from dependency back again to bondage."
The Course of Nations _ attributed to Alexander Fraser Tytler,

Our consider this:

I prefer liberty with danger to peace with slavery.  ~Author Unknown

The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding.  ~Louis D. Brandeis

Nations grown corrupt
Love bondage more than liberty;
Bondage with ease than strenuous liberty.
~John Milton

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.  ~Thomas Paine

 Where do you stand?
